Victory Baltic Thunder Label

I just got an e-mail from the folks at Victory Brewing Company and in the e-mail there was a link dedicated to Victory’s new release, Baltic Thunder. Sounded pretty interesting to me. So, I clicked the link and found this description…

Truly a worldly beer. Baltic Thunder represents the Baltic Porter style admirably. Exhibiting the enticing, toffee roast of the British porter that originated the style in the 18th century, and the soothing, subtle fruit nuance of contemporary brews that flourish from Helsinki to Vilnius today, this dark lager honors the Baltic god of thunder. Created by an inspired collaboration of brewers and tempered with a touch of turmoil, Baltic Thunder rolls on to bring you enchanting light as the darkness fades.

It is alleged that Victory worked out some sort of deal with the Heavyweight Brewing Company to produce Heavyweight’s Perkuno’s Hammer. Because of some potential distribution issues, Victory’s recreation will have new packaging and a new name.

I’m not completely sure how I feel about breweries buying recipes from other breweries — it probably happens a lot but it just seems wrong… Even though Victory might not have come up with the recipe, I’m still really excited about wrapping Baltic Thunder around my taste buds!

Starting January 5, 2008, Baltic Thunder will be available in draft form for a limited time only! It will also be regularly available in 22 ounce bottles. Enjoy!
